Babbel – Learn Languages App Details

Learn Spanish, French, Italian, German, and many more languages with Babbel. Developed by a team of language learning experts, Babbel has helped millions of people speak a new language with confidence. THE BABBEL METHOD Here’s what makes Babbel more effective than any other language learning app: 1. Confidence — Our goal is to get you speaking from your very first lesson. And our elegantly designed courses give you the confidence to get there. We teach you how to engage in practical, everyday conversations, making it easier for you to have authentic experiences in your new language. 2. Comprehension — Our lessons immerse you in relevant culture and real-life conversations. We want you to really take in the language, not just memorize useless phrases. And we provide helpful hints in English (or your native language) to make your new language more relatable. 3. Retention — We know you’re busy. That’s why our lessons are short but sweet: about 10-15 minutes, and designed to send your new language straight to long-term memory. We regularly refresh your memory with our dynamic review sessions, which target areas where you need improvement most. Finally, we make sure you really grasp what you’re learning by bringing it back later in a new context. I want to learn Japanese. There is no Japanese. I need there to be Japanese. I like the idea but I need to have Japanese for the app to be good enough to give a higher rating! Sorry not sorry!
  • Best language app

Tried a few. Babble is great. One annoying error: some quizzes are impossible to answer, because no gender is provided in English. For example, the app asks to translate “the” into Spanish and offers two options: “el” and “la”. Only one is deemed correct. Should have said “the (fem.)” and “the (male)”. But otherwise, pretty amazing.

  • Would change a few things

    By X-Girl12345
I really do like this app a lot. However, I would change a few things about it. I am using it for Spanish I wish that you could test out of them early lessons so that the app could figure out where your fluency level really is and the lessons could be cured more specifically toward your learning. It feels like torture going through the early lessons when I have had some Spanish. I also really wish that I could choose Latin Spanish versus Spain Spanish. I don’t want to include the VOSOTROS but it makes me! A couple of other things, sometimes it wants you to include the pronouns and sometimes it doesn’t but it’s not always clear. So I get some wrong because those instructions arent specific. What I really wish is that it included more activities that forced you to translate what you hear. I feel like this is the hardest part of learning a language. Is making sure that what you hear from a Foreign language speaker is what you think you hear. So I’m still on the hunt for the best app that will give me that!
  • This app will steal your money

    By annichole
Charged me $30. I don’t even have this app on my phone and it is not a subscription I have chosen to have, and it is not on my iTunes account. It will take your money without permission!!!
  • Mui Bien!

    By Beadgirl7
Great app. I am beginning but compared to other methods this is the best!
  • Poor speech recognition

    By Amegwynna
I couldn’t even get past the beginning lessons because of the poor speech recognition. I know my device (iPhone X) works flawlessly but couldn’t get the lesson to register if I’d said a word right or wrong (even though the little volume thing fluctuated showing it could hear me). Not worth the frustration.
  • Good Teacher / Good Company

I used Babbel for a few months to learn German. I learned a lot and what I learned stuck well. I slowly had less time to study, so I stopped using it. I forgot about the auto-renewal but even though they did not have to, they refunded my money after I explained to them I hadn’t used it in several months. This is not to say that all should expect that of them, but I respect the company for being courteous to their customers.
