App Reviews

  • I choose Memrise

My family and I are Portuguese. My mom, grandparents, uncles and aunt all speak the language and it wasn’t until I found the Memrise app that I could learn it without having to travel 6-8 hours first. Duolingo gives you the option of Portuguese but Brazilian Portuguese... not European (Portugal) Portuguese which is kind of unfair for me, because yes there is a difference... which is where this app comes in handy I’d recommend it to my family (those who don’t already speak the language) and friends for those who are looking to visit a foreign country, because the Memrise app offers many different languages for you to learn. And the best part the app is it’s quite simple to maneuver and use. I think the one thing I would want changed is the add about going “premium” I wish it wouldn’t pop up so frequently. Overall I will say the app makes learning something new, fun.

  • Careful: Another unscrupulous app

Be very careful as they start charging without notification to do so.

  • Enjoyable language learning

I use this app to supplement my coursework. I find that I have an easier time remembering key phrases after using the app. The game aspect also helps me stay motivated even through difficult concepts.

I wanted to learn some Arabic alphabet and see how this app works. I thought it’s system was pretty cool. It taught me the parts of the letter, and gave me visual and sound cues. I don’t know how I feel about the in-reverse matching section thing. “Done learning literally a single letter? Sign up today to spend $60 on this app you just downloaded! Hurry- half off offer ends today!” Look I’ll buy your app if you fire your marketing people and put me in. I’ll decide against cutsie language space theme while monetarily blitzkreiging every single new member until they’re trapped in this system they don’t know very well yet. This means that your strategy is not to become a reputable language teacher but to make a quick buck. I’d like to know where you stole your linguistic R&D from, because it’s not bad at all. If you want me to leave a better review of your shady and inconsistently marketed language software, sign up to pay me $60 a year, and only $30 this year! But only if you do it RIGHT NOW! (Or click “No I want live in my own little world 😒 to continue sampling the app you downloaded actually three minutes ago.) Thank you for teaching me 9 letters of Arabic for the next six hours.

Although this app is very well designed in one learning a new language; it’s description is totally misleading. It indicates that it supports FAMILY SHARING. In true reality it does not. When it was inquired as to why an extra subscription when my daughter used the FAMILY SHARING app. This was the response “The app can be shared but the subscription is in APP content and therefore cannot. This doesn’t make sense to me because then every APP WOULD Be considered FAMILY SHARING enabled. I can share any app with anyone. Apple Music is a Family Shared enabled app. I like classics and my daughter likes rock. She uses the IN APP CONTENT of Apple Music via the same FAMILY subscription. Much as I would like to learn German and she would like to learn Italian. If THE APP DEVELOPER STATES it is FAMILY SHARED ENABLED -then it should truly be.
  • Fantastic Quality

Starting off, this app is just FANTASTIC. All of its features are very helpful, the drills help you understand and learn better, and very good quality. Even without Memrise Pro (the membership), I have encountered nothing but pleasantness. Please download this app.
  • Great app, just a couple questions

    By KkKkKkKk699669
I really like this app, since it’s the only one so far I’ve noticed that I can use it as much as I want within a certain amount of time for free. I like how I’m not limited to what I want to do with the app, though there is a subscription you could buy I don’t find it necessary and I appreciate that. A few questions though, the first is I know in the Korean language, there are different dialects, so which one does this app focus on? Also, I just started using this app and I am just at the ‘launch pad’ part, and so far it’s all been ‘translated’ in romanization, will there be actual Korean to help me read and recognize the words? Thank you!
