  • Great App with a few Shortcomings

I really like this app. I got MS Word and then got the 365 subscription for the additional fonts. I very recently got an iPad Pro and it was one of the first apps I installed. As far as I am concerned this is the only real word processing app available and is, by far, superior to anything else out there. To get all the features and fonts you do need a 365 subscription, but it is well worth it. It is an excellent app, but it does need a few improvements. Especially where fonts are concerned. There are too many boring fonts that all look the same and in light of being able to install desktop MAC fonts onto the iPad another problem pops up. These fonts install as unsigned iOS fonts (which you are warned can change the devices settings), but from what I can tell, the devices own apps have no problems with them. HOWEVER, Word does. Often when trying to use them you will get the “Insufficient memory or disk space - Can not display” message. This problem can be somewhat fixed by uninstalling Word and then reinstalling it and logging into your 365 subscription. Now open a blank document and go through all the fonts available through the Word app; downloading those you want. Close Word and shut down (not restart) your iPad. Turn it back on and give it a couple of minutes before loading Word again. (It seems to take a moment for the settings to be set back to rights and isn’t instant as you’d expect.) Scroll down to the iOS fonts listing and try each font you installed. Some will work with Word and some won’t, but you have to type something with the font to know for sure as nothing will be displayed for some and others will give you the insufficient memory/disk space message. Also be sure to try different point sizes as this can make a difference. Some will be fine at the default 11pt size, but will not work at larger sizes. If you install additional fonts later on, you will, likely, have to do this again so install everything at once. The obvious big issue then becomes, if I buy this font I really like/need, will it work with Word? Until there is a list of the fonts that do it’s a hit and miss proposition.
  • Used to be great. New updates a letdown

    By Doc243
The Word app used to have many functions that were recently removed. The spacing options, the alignments to center and the sides, and many more that used to allow me to work from my iPad now make me send it to a computer before I can submit it. Please return those basic functions that EVERY Microsoft word software comes with (since before windows 2000)

Good program but gave three stars because it is very difficult to get a blank/ new page. I have tried several times but nothing works. Also, there is no way to print an envelop.

  • Almost, not quite

The word app has some great features that I’m still disappointed that Google doesn’t have, which makes it the optimal choice for essays or really professional looking work in general. However, the settings to select things are completely messed up, the backspace key is really slow, and you can’t select a sentence without the whole application freezing and making you unable to type. So yes, this is okay, but I would suggest that you either find a way around using Google or just use Word on a computer.
