App Reviews

  • One of the five most important news sources in America!

    By Gary E Miller 1
National coverage is original, not pulled and rehashed from a wire service. Good sports and lots of local scuttle butt.
  • Great format

    By Brewers4105
Newspaper website formats are all over the place. This app works best for me.
  • Love this app!

    By Shellandjj
Thrilled to receive my Los Angeles news with this app! Always timely, smart, and well-written. Definitely recommend it.
  • No more pop up adds please

    By Dr Pedro V.
No more initial pop up adds, the most annoying type of adds and a reminder I'm paying too much for pop up adds each time.
  • LA Times app rocks!

    By GlorifiedOverkill
Now I can get my home-state updates anywhere. LA Times writers are well-educated and the articles are reliably well-written. Usually I find they hit my phone before NPR or others report. I love this app!!
  • Uninspired app riddled with ads

    By ScottieG123
The app itself is okay, but it's actually not much better than the mobile web version of the LA times. In fact, I would say I like the layout on a mobile browser better. Most annoyingly though, the app is loaded with pop up ads that delay the reader from accessing news. This happens every single time the app is opened and is a huge turn off from using it in the first place. I understand that the LA times needs to increase revenue, but there needs to be a balance that does not erode the customer experience, and they have yet to find it.
  • When I can't get the paper or wait for it.

    By Edward A
I hope the quality of the LA Times doesn't change with the new editors. Frightening. The Times has been talking truth to power. I hope they have the courage to continue that noble pursuit. The app is basically the reporting, and there's getting to be less and less quality independent and original journalism these days. It's all borrowed from real news sources - like the Times has been, and hopefully will continue to be.
  • A Real Newspaper

    By G'Sonn
Timely stories, fascinating human interest stuff, spot-on analysis. This is a news outlet worthy of my time, effort, energy and money.
  • Good but not like a real newspaper

    By Seazap
The app works fine and has the current stories I'm long for. But unlike a newspaper lots of story's stay on the app for days at a time. So I find myself reading "yesterday's news" I wish it was just new stories each day like a real newspaper. Also, lots of ads. Even though I pay for the premium version I still have to watch ads every time I open the app before I can access the content. So between reading yesterday's news and annoying ads I'd say this app is not the best newspaper app I've used. 2 stars for sure
  • Poorly organized and updated

    By Tripsforwork
This app has really been spoiling my view of the LA Times lately. It is organized poorly, the algorithm they use to de use what articles go first is terrible, the ad that runs before you get in, even for subscribers...
