Sleep Cycle alarm clock App Details

Waking up made easy Sleep Cycle is an intelligent alarm clock that tracks your sleep patterns and wakes you up in light sleep - the natural way to wake up, feeling rested and energized. No need to place your device in bed - Sleep Cycles uses sound analysis sleep tracking. How it works • As you sleep, you go through different sleep phases, ranging from light to deep sleep and back again. The sleep phase you are in when your alarm goes off is critical for how rested you will feel when you wake up. • While you sleep, your movements vary depending on what sleep phase you are in. Sleep Cycle’s patented sound technology tracks your sleep patterns using sound or vibration analysis, monitoring your movements in bed throughout the different sleep phases. • Sleep Cycle finds the optimal time when you are in light sleep to wake you up in the morning, during a predefined 30 minute time window that ends at your set alarm time. Waking up in light sleep feels like waking up naturally without an alarm, leaving you feeling rested and energized. • All you need to do is turn Sleep Cycle on before going to bed, and place your device on your nightstand or close by on the floor. • Heart rate monitor no longer working

I’m was a huge fan of this app, but the heart rate measurement taken upon waking no longer works. Please fix!
  • somewhat interesting

Sleep Cycle tells you a percentage for your quality of sleep. It seems that there is a certain level of sleep where it says all the sleep beneath that level was good quality sleep. I would like there to be a line on the graph showing me where that cut off is. But my biggest concern with the app is it must emit some type of EMF to be able to measure my sleep and I'm afraid that is affecting my quality of sleep.
  • Nope won’t turn off - don’t install

Installed last night. Snooze works and works and works and works meaning it just get louder and louder and louder. Nothing happens with the stop or home button to turn it off. Had to turn the sound off. I don’t need this nonsense in the am. Uninstalled Update: I uninstalled and somehow the alarm still plays at the designated time with the same terrible song. Fantastic way to f up my sleep everyday now that I have a different schedule.
  • Used to love it

Used to love it and it worked great for waking up gently. However recently it’s been on the fritz and will go off whenever it wants. I always wake up pretty consistently the same time every morning but recently the alarm has started going off at all hours- 2AM, 5AM, 6AM, 11AM. Hours before I should be up for work or hours into me already being at work, but somehow not at the time I set it for. Bafflingly, the alarms persisted sporadically even after I stopped using it for a few days and switched back to a normal alarm. The alarm from this app still would not give up. I rage uninstalled the app yesterday as I’ve been been very sick and finally got a day to sleep in. And what was I woken up to? You guessed it, this alarm. (Still, oh so conveniently, not going off within the time range I normally wake up) I should mention also that the sleep analysis features have also been in a fritz, but honestly those are less invasive to my sleep and were just a nice bonus, so I care less about those stopping to work. In general, used to be a great app? I used to highly recommend it, but after a couple weeks of severely interrupted sleep I just can’t trust this app anymore and I’ll be looking for a new one. [edit] I can’t not figure how to reply to your comment, but unfortunately no it is not the battery feature or the Apple bedtime feature- I keep my phone plugged in while the app is running and the bedtime alert goes off the same time each night.
  • $29 a year for the Premium version? Really????

I used this program for several years, tolerating its many shortcomings of most of the premium version function until they suddenly decided they were worth a subscription price that wouldn’t be worth it if the app worked the way they advertise it (but it doesn’t). Here are the shortcomings: 1. The sleep quality assessment does not correlate with whether or not you feel like you got a good night sleep. It also isn’t good at detecting when you’re awake and when you’re asleep. 2. I don’t want to risk losing up to 30 minutes of precious sleep so the app can wake me in the “lightest sleep.” I don’t feel any better when I’ve tried this function, but do feel annoyed and hit the snooze button when the alarm goes off 30 minutes before I really need to get up 3. Why in the world would I want to back up this data in case I lost it? If you are that devastated by the loss of inaccurate data, play a game of angry birds and get over it. 4. Sleep notes doesn’t mean much because the app’s assessment of a good night’s sleep is so bad. 5. Sleep quality assessment reportedly is “less accurate” if you have a partner, but I find the assessment so in accurate as to make the partner issue irrelevant. Good points: it works as an alarm (so does the free version), it has good white noise selection (but Sleep Pillow’s is better), it would be of some interest if it actually provided accurate information (but not $29/year).
  • Suddenly basic free features now require premium paid access

Well, this was my all time favorite sleep tracker app. Until recently. I desperately wanted and needed the background sleep noise while traveling, only to discover that feature ( amongst pretty every other feature besides the alarm) is no longer available in the free version. BOOO. Now searching for a new sleep tracker app.

I am encouraged by the graph to get to bed on time and work on improving the quality of my sleeping hours. I am also noting the results after various activities. Enjoying it.
  • Changed to a pay app :(

I really liked this app, used it for almost a year and suddenly it comes up that you have to pay for all the features that used to be free. I’m fine paying a onetime fee for an app but an auto-renewed $29.99/year when I’m not getting any more additional features than what I’m used to is irritating. Will be looking for a new app.

As a heavy sleeper I absolutely LOVE this app and have found it to be the only thing that really works to wake me up. BUT, I downloaded the app for free and after a month received a $30 yearly subscription charge to my iTunes account without my authorization! I was able to reverse the charges easily with Apple, but may not see the funds back for up to a month. To avoid this happening to you, go to your subscriptions settings in iTunes, and “cancel subscription”.
  • Love it but

There really needs to be an option to allow messages through if wanted. I get the idea behind silencing them but come on, sometimes we need to get messages at all times and there’s no override option for this. Big down fall of an otherwise great app.
