SEPTA Transit Watch App Details

“See something Say something” for smartphones The SEPTA Transit Watch App offers the public a quick and discreet method for reporting suspicious activity directly to the police. The app can send pictures, text messages, and locations of suspicious people or activities. From the home screen, users have two easy options for contacting the SEPTA transit police: * The “Report a Problem” button allows users to send text or photos directly to the SEPTA Transit Police. To ensure discretion, the camera flash is automatically disabled when photos are taken through the app. When reporting an issue, users can select locations and report categories to assist the SEPTA Transit Police. Riders can also send reports anonymously if they chose. * The “Call SEPTA Police” button will connect customers directly to the SEPTA Transit Police. The application is designed for SEPTA. If you send a report in an area without cellular connectivity, it will be stored and sent when connectivity returns. The system is also designed to send text messages before pictures so that the SEPTA Transit Police can get app reports as quickly as possible. Additional Features BOLO (Be On the Look Out) Alerts. BOLO Alerts on the app may display alerts from SEPTA Transit Police about specific persons of interest. For example, the app may display information about a missing person or child, such as where they were last seen. If you see a person from a BOLO, immediately call 911 and send an app report to SEPTA Transit Police discreetly.

Just so strange that you would think taking all the steps here required would be faster than, and more efficient than calling 911. Who in their right mind would? Really? You encourage taking photos to send to you and even take the time to say you'll disable my flash for me and hope the criminals won't notice their photo being taken. Sorry guys but this is just the dumbest app I've ever seen. Call 911 in emergency, but septa says "play with our app instead" spend your time and energy improving your services. That's what ya need to do. You're loosing riders rapidly due to strikes all the time and then a year after the dust settles, you raise the fares to pay for all your greedy and nasty drivers. Even after your response, still same rating. Does not change that this app does not get immediate responses. I don’t ride septa any longer as they are just too greedy. It’s not about the people. It’s about money. There is nothing you can say to change my opinion. Just another way to track people and solicit services that do not work for this city. As long as septa makes money they will continue to do whatever they please. Strike after strike has convinced me that things will never get better.
  • Great app

Reported a male and female fighting at 15th Street station, and the police responded very quickly, that great to have on your phone if you ride septa everyday. Make transit systems safe again!
  • Cool idea .... but...

The app seems ok when everything is running smoothly...but when the train is running late, the app always crashes! SEPTA rail is late more than it runs on rime, while they treat every late as if an isolated situation. Now there is app folks are wanting to use to REPORT late trains (among other things) yet it will crash when the train is running late. Too many times now for this to be a coincidence. SEPTA - please own up to the latest spottiest public transit system of all major cities.
