Boston is steeped in Revolutionary War era history, from the Tea Party to the Battle of Bunker Hill. Join us, as we start this walking tour at the original Liberty Tree, then follow the well-marked Freedom Trail.

See historic Boston the way it was meant to be seen: on foot. No schedules, no guides, no tips at the end of the tour... no worries. Good for tourists and locals of all ages. Eighteen sites are included in the tour. Yes, it can be a lot of walking, as the tour is about 2.5 miles long. So, spread it out over a couple of days, take a break for lunch, or maybe stop and shop along the way. This tour allows you to go at your own pace. Read the text on your own, or listen to the narration as you take in the sights. Narrated in English. Two Buck Tours include photos, maps with GPS, directions, tips, hours and interesting information about each site. Once the tour is downloaded, it is self-contained on your iPhone or iPod touch - no internet connection required. Not visiting Boston anytime soon? The history and photos will let you experience the city from your town.

  • Great Tour!

Well done! We should have started earlier in the day though. We missed getting on the USS Constitution because we arrived as it was closing. Definitely make a whole day of it if you want to linger at each location. Some stops only take cash if you want to go in (Paul Revere House). A couple notes on the map view (as of 5/21/18): marked pin #11 for the old state house is at the back of the building. The discussion talks about the balcony, but it’s on the other end of the building. Marked pin #12 for the Boston Massacre site should be in the same place. Both 11 and 12 should be at the corner of State and Devonshire. (If you zoom in on the map, you can see the Boston Massacre site on the corner.) You might want to take headphones to listen to the audio. We did this on a weekday and some spots were hard to listen in because of street noise. We managed to find quiet places to listen, but some couldn’t be heard when right by the marked location. All in all this tour made for a fun day.

The Freedom Trail is well marked and easy to follow on your own. And, this app made it even better! You can listen to the narration at each stop and there are good historical photos. Plus, it’s nice to be able to stop and start when you want. If there are several people in your group, you can use Family Sharing.

The kids and adults in our group all enjoyed this tour. The teen, especially, was happy to not be part of a group tour. We could take our time and wander around a couple of the cemeteries - very fun!

The information on each attraction was interesting and informative, and the historic pictures were good. Note - this walk took us about 5 hours, with stops; you might want to split it over 2 days.
